Huachuca City is located at the North Gate of Ft. Huachuca. The population is around 1900. Huachuca City started out as a rail stop for the Southern Pacific railroad between Tombstone and Patagonia. When Ft Huachuca reopened in 1954 the area grew and became Huachuca City and was incorporated in 1958. The major employer is the Army post. Many retirees call Huachuca City home. It lies just a few miles north of Sierra Vista on Hwy 90 connecting the area to I-10, Tucson, Benson and Hwy 82 to Nogales, AZ and Santa Cruz County.
