Sierra Vista

Sierra Vista is the largest City in Cochise County. Located 20 miles north of the border with Mexico, Sierra Vista is the main commercial, cultural and recreational hub of the County.  Elevation of 4600 feet makes it a comfortable and pleasant place to live.  The city was incorporated in 1956 and has seen steady growth, due to being the entrance to Fort Huachuca.  The population of greater Sierra Vista is around 47,000.  The City is home to Fort Huachuca the largest employer in the region with over 9400 employees.  Located 80 miles southeast of Tucson, 25 miles South of I-10 Sierra Vista is easily accessible to visitors and business.  Sierra Vista Municipal Airport is conveniently located on Fort Huachuca’s Libby field.  The airport can handle smaller private aircraft along with corporate and commercial aircraft.  Sierra Vista is also home to the University of Arizona South, Cochise College SV campus, University of Phoenix, Wayland Baptist University and Western International University.

Sierra Vista offers a wealth of shopping and dining opportunities.  Being only 16 miles from Tombstone and 26 miles from Bisbee, Sierra Vista is a great place to stay while exploring Cochise County.
